I-India is a fully registered non-governmental organisation established in 1993 by Abha Goswami who decided to make a difference and give the street children of India the opportunity of basic education and care. Today I-India helps over 3,000 street children in and around Jaipur every day.
In 2009, Jayne joined the Street Child Project Singapore as a committee member. Street Child Project is a registered society in Singapore. Their mission is to work towards supporting I-India in Jaipur. The members of SCP frequently visit India to witness the projects which have been launched, shelter homes for the boys and girls which is part of a grand project to create a children’s village to provide a caring, safe and nurturing home.
An annual dinner was staged in 2010 within the White Lodge community and due to the large cash donation by the parents, children and staff from White Lodge, a School On Wheels Program was launched.
Jayne says of her first visit to the children, “Visiting the I-India projects in Jaipur was life changing. I am totally sold on the idea of helping these children and to make a difference in their lives. I am honored to be a member of the I-India team here in Singapore. Through various events, we hope to help raise money and more importantly, create awareness for this worthy cause. I-India needs financial support to ensure they can continue their vital work.”
Jayne and Ganesh visited the children again in November 2011, reinforcing how much there still is to do there for those children.
