Students

Here is a look at a typical day at White Lodge. These activities strengthen the friendships and ties these children have with one another.

Arrival and Circle Time
Promotes independence and allows a gentle introduction to the morning programme. Children are encouraged to develop their social skills and take turns to participate and interact with the teachers and each other.

Story Time
The children are exposed to the use of expressive English listening to stories based on various themes. This enhances vocabulary and comprehension.
Activities relating to story time will involve motor skills, language concept development and sequencing skills.

Outdoor Play
During outdoor play, children are given the opportunity to explore their environment and work on their gross motor skills, coordination and social skills.

Snack Time
Self-help and social skills are reinforced during snack time.

Indoor Play
Children use their decision-making skills to select an indoor activity, such as blocks, construction, puzzles, dress-up, or use of reading or home corners.

Mandarin Lessons
Children are exposed to Mandarin verbally through songs, rhymes and stories. Kindergarten classes will be taught basic reading and writing.

Music & Movement
Our children enjoy listening and participating in musical activities, again that are based on a theme. They get involved in games and songs, which promote gross motor coordination.

Art & Craft
Children are given opportunities to experiment with different materials and use them as a form of expression, as well as a means of representing their knowledge of a specific area or topic from a theme. Older children may embark on group projects that require research and discussion.

Sensory Play
Children are introduced to different tactile materials. It is a time for the children to use one or a combination of their five senses to explore the properties and attributes of different materials. This is an excellent introduction to early science.

Math Exploration
Kindergarten classes will be introduced to concepts through hands-on activities. These activities focus on thinking and problem solving.

Reading Programme
Kindergarten classes will have reading and literacy activities. A reading series will be used.

Integrated Skills
Integrated skills are based on current themes. Nursery classes will work on pre-reading, pre-writing and activities pertaining to early Math concepts. Kindergarten classes will cover the 3 Rs – reading, writing and arithmetic.

Social Studies
Basic concepts in Science, Geography and History will be introduced through hands-on activities. Children acquire basic investigative skills; learn modes of representing information and use analytical skills to draw conclusions.

Lunch
The children’s self-help and social skills are reinforced during lunch.
